A real phone number for Indeed
Job seekers share their phone number with many employers, and not all of them are careful with it. A separate number for your job search keeps recruiter calls, interview scheduling texts and Indeed security codes away from your personal SIM, and you can let it lapse after you are hired if you no longer need it for sign-in. It is also handy when you are moving abroad and want a local number in the country where you are applying. Employers who want to reach you quickly can call or text the number, and you answer from any browser without carrying a second phone. SMS Hallo gives you a real mobile number in the country of your choice, so you can create and secure your Indeed account without sharing your personal number.
The Indeed code lands in your SMS Hallo inbox within seconds and is ready to copy with one tap. Because you keep the number for as long as you like, you can always receive new login codes and recover your account later.
Every number includes unlimited incoming SMS, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 calling minutes a month, plus unlimited incoming calls, from just $1.80 a month (billed yearly).
And it's risk-free: if the number doesn't work with Indeed, replace it free within 7 days or get a 100% refund.

Usually, yes, but Indeed decides which numbers it accepts. Indeed verifies with a 6-digit code by text message or automated call and no longer allows non-fixed VoIP numbers; SMS Hallo numbers are real mobile numbers, so the code arrives in your dashboard or as a call in the browser dialer. If it does not work, swap the number free within 7 days or get a 100% refund.
How Indeed verifies your number
Indeed's help center says it asks job seekers to verify a phone number to confirm account creation, to process job applications, to improve account security and password recovery, and to show employers that applicants are active on the platform. The verified number does not have to match the phone number on your profile, but it must meet Indeed's requirements.
Indeed sends a 6-digit code that stays valid for 10 minutes. Text message is the default, but Indeed can also place an automated phone call, and it can send the code by WhatsApp if a WhatsApp account is linked to that number. If nothing arrives, you can tap Resend code to get a new message or call. With SMS Hallo, text codes appear in your private SMS inbox and calls ring in the browser dialer, where incoming calls are unlimited.
Indeed's troubleshooting page says it accepts mobile, landline or fixed VoIP numbers and no longer allows non-fixed VoIP numbers for verification. It may show "unable to verify this number right now", in which case you wait 12 hours, or "Too many verification attempts", which clears after 10 minutes or 24 hours. A number can also reach the maximum number of Indeed accounts it may be linked to, in which case Indeed asks you to use a different number or manage the existing accounts.
These are checks on the phone number only. Indeed may apply its own security steps, and employers may run their own background or identity checks during hiring; a number from SMS Hallo does not change or skip any of them. Use your real name and details on applications. SMS Hallo's Acceptable Use Policy forbids fake profiles, duplicate accounts and any kind of fraud.

Troubleshooting Indeed verification
No text arrives
Use Resend code once, or switch to the automated call option. If nothing arrives, swap the number free within 7 days or request a 100% refund.
"Unable to verify this number right now"
Indeed asks you to wait 12 hours before trying again. You can also use the free replacement to try a different number.
"Too many verification attempts"
Indeed limits attempts; wait 10 minutes or up to 24 hours as the message says, then try once more.
Unsupported number type
Indeed does not allow non-fixed VoIP numbers and decides on each number itself. If it refuses the number, use the 7-day replacement or the 100% refund.
Number already linked
The number has reached Indeed's account limit. Use the free replacement to get a different number in the same country.
Code expired
Indeed codes last 10 minutes. Request a new one and enter it right away from your SMS Hallo inbox.
Which country to choose for Indeed
Choose the country where you are applying for jobs, so employers see a familiar local number and can call you without international dialing. If you are applying in your home country, a number from there is the natural choice. Indeed notes that if your country code is not available you can pick a number from its worldwide list, so check Indeed's country options first. No country is certain to be accepted, so lean on the 7-day free replacement and the 100% refund. Because incoming calls are unlimited, recruiters can call as often as they need to. If you are relocating, rent the number a little before you start applying, so it is already verified and saved in your Indeed account when employers begin to call. You can keep it for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at a time and renew only as long as your search lasts, while your Indeed sign-in still depends on it.
