A real phone number for Nintendo

A phone number on your Nintendo Account gives you a second way to prove it is you, for example when you have forgotten your password or cannot get Nintendo's email. It is especially useful for Nintendo Switch owners who share an email inbox or rarely check it, since the text gives a second route to prove ownership. SMS Hallo gives you a real mobile number in the country of your choice, so you can create and secure your Nintendo account without sharing your personal number.

The Nintendo code lands in your SMS Hallo inbox within seconds and is ready to copy with one tap. Because you keep the number for as long as you like, you can always receive new login codes and recover your account later.

Every number includes unlimited incoming SMS, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 calling minutes a month, plus unlimited incoming calls, from just $1.80 a month (billed yearly).

And it's risk-free: if the number doesn't work with Nintendo, replace it free within 7 days or get a 100% refund.

Every number includes

  • Unlimited incoming SMS — Receive every text and verification code, with no monthly cap.
  • 500 outgoing SMS / month — Reply and send texts from your number, anywhere in the world.
  • 1,000 calling minutes / month — Make calls from your number with a generous monthly allowance.
  • Unlimited incoming calls — Answer calls on your number as often as you like.
  • Keep it as long as you like — Renew monthly or for up to 12 months at a time. The number stays yours.
  • 7-day money-back guarantee — Not used it yet? Get a full refund within 7 days, no questions asked.
  • 7-day replacement guarantee — Doesn't work for you? Swap it for another number in the same country, free, in one click.
  • Works everywhere — or 100% refund — WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google and more. If it doesn't work, you get every cent back.
Short answer

In supported countries, yes. A Nintendo Account can have a phone number registered for identity checks by text message, and an SMS Hallo real mobile number can receive that 6-digit code in your dashboard. Nintendo only offers phone registration in some countries and decides which numbers it accepts; if it doesn't work, you can swap the number free within 7 days or get a 100% refund.

How Nintendo verifies your number

A Nintendo Account is created with an email address, not a phone number. Nintendo describes registering a phone number as an additional layer of security that can help prevent unauthorized access. In situations such as a forgotten password, Nintendo may ask to send a text message to your phone, and entering that code verifies your identity. That makes the number useful mainly for recovery rather than for every sign-in.

You register a number at accounts.nintendo.com under Sign-in and security settings, Phone Number. Nintendo may first ask you to re-enter your password, use your passkey or confirm a code sent to your email. You then choose the country, enter the number without the country code and without spaces or dashes, and type the 6-digit code from the text message. Nintendo says the code should arrive within a few minutes and expires in 10 minutes. Nintendo also says the number must be able to receive text messages.

Availability depends on your Nintendo Account country. Nintendo's Americas support lists the countries in that region where phone registration is offered, and other regional support pages show a country list in the dropdown. If your country is not listed, you cannot register a number. Numbers that cannot receive texts, such as landlines, are not accepted, and phone numbers cannot be registered to accounts for children under 13. Supervised accounts for users aged 13 to 17 without a registered email address do not see the option either.

Nintendo's 2-step verification is separate: it uses codes from the Google Authenticator app plus 10 backup codes, not SMS. The phone number helps around it, for example as another way to confirm your identity when Nintendo's verification email does not arrive. If both your email and your phone are unreachable, Nintendo points you to its steps for when its email does not arrive, so keeping at least one of them working matters.

How to verify Nintendo with an SMS Hallo number

  1. Check your account country — Make sure phone registration is offered for your Nintendo Account country, then rent a real mobile number from that country on SMS Hallo. You can pay from your SMS Hallo wallet or directly for the number; the payment window shows the exact amount, the address or QR code and a 10-minute countdown, so send the exact amount on the network you picked.
  2. Open Phone Number settings — Sign in at accounts.nintendo.com, select Sign-in and security settings, then Phone Number and Phone Number Settings. On a computer, scroll down to the Phone Number section and select Edit.
  3. Confirm it's you — Re-enter your password, use your passkey or enter the email code if Nintendo asks. If you have 2-step verification on, Nintendo may also ask for a code from Google Authenticator or one of your backup codes.
  4. Enter the number — Choose the country and enter the number without the country code, spaces or dashes, then select Submit. Use the country dropdown to match the country of the SMS Hallo number you rented.
  5. Type the 6-digit code — Copy the code from your SMS Hallo inbox within 10 minutes, submit it and set the number to auto-renew. When Nintendo shows that your phone number has been linked, select OK to finish.

Troubleshooting Nintendo verification

The Phone Number section is missing

Nintendo hides it for child accounts, some supervised accounts and account countries where phone registration is not offered.

"Unable to link this number"

Re-enter the number without the country code, spaces or dashes. If Nintendo still refuses it, use the free replacement within 7 days or request a 100% refund.

The text does not arrive

Wait a few minutes and check the number. If nothing arrives, swap it free within 7 days or request a refund if it doesn't work with Nintendo.

Code expired

Nintendo's code expires after 10 minutes. Request a new one and enter it right away.

My country is not in the list

Nintendo only accepts numbers from listed countries. A number from another country will not help; use email and Google Authenticator instead.

Email verification code not arriving

If Nintendo's email does not arrive and you have a phone registered, select Use another method to verify your identity and choose the text message option.

Which country to choose for Nintendo

For Nintendo, choose a number from the same country as your Nintendo Account, and only if Nintendo offers phone registration there. Nintendo's own support pages tie availability to the account country, so a number from elsewhere is likely to be refused. Do not change countries to reach a different eShop; a phone number is a security detail only. If Nintendo declines the number, use the free replacement or the refund. Nintendo's Americas support, for example, lists countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia among those where phone registration is offered.
