Why the leading 8 disappears in the Telegram field

Drop the 8. Inside Russia a mobile number is usually written as 8 (912) 345-67-89, where the 8 is a trunk prefix used only for domestic dialing. Telegram's FAQ asks for the number in international format: country code, then the operator code, then the subscriber digits.

Who keeps a second Russian number on Telegram

A separate +7 account helps anyone who wants work, family and public life kept apart: translators with Russian-speaking clients, relatives spread across countries, or small teams running a support group.

Tighten privacy once you are in

Do I type the 8 when entering a Russian number in Telegram?
